South Louisiana coast • live fishing conditions, not navigation
How Live Conditions works
Way More Fish compares current fishing conditions — it does not predict whether you will catch fish.
Choose a fishing area and spot to load wind, weather, tide movement, recent observations, pressure, water clarity and other available inputs.
The fishing score is a relative conditions score for that place and time, not a catch probability.
When a primary live source is unavailable, the app may use a recent cache or an independent fallback. The app labels source freshness and data confidence.
Local water conditions can still differ from stations and forecasts, so what you see on the water matters.
Planning and fishing reference only — not for navigation.
You can reopen this explanation anytime from the Live conditions section.
Offline / weak signal — showing the most recently cached app and any previously cached data available on this device.
Choose an area, then pick a fishing spot.
Map: Standard • NOAA Chart • Satellite. Use Fishing Structure at close zoom for spot-specific bottom/structure guidance. On the NOAA chart at zoom 12+, tap a chart symbol for details. Tap ◎ for GPS. NOAA chart is for planning/reference, not navigation.
🌦 Marine Weather
⚠️ Marine safety status has not been verified. Favorable weather does not mean safe boating.
Choose a spot for a forecast, or use the current map center.
Radar is a visual reference. Check timestamp and official warnings.
Radar colors: blues/greens = lighter precipitation; yellows/oranges/reds = heavier precipitation. No radar echo does not mean no danger.

Water Check
Prien Structure & Flow
Quick fishing reference tied to the live NOAA map.
I-210 North Channel Ledge
Published fishing reference: about 18–22 ft along the western ledge north of I-210, next to deeper ship-channel water.
Calcasieu Ship Channel
Main channel is substantially deeper; USGS surveys in the Lake Charles reach found roughly 33–46.5 ft.
South of I-210
Generally shallower flats, points and soft mud/silt bottom. Use NOAA soundings for exact local depth.
Flood tide
Generally pushes water north / up the Calcasieu Ship Channel.
Ebb tide
Generally pushes water south / down the channel toward the Gulf.
Best current seams
Focus on island tips, points, bridge constrictions and channel edges where moving water forms seams and eddies.
Fishing interpretation only — not for navigation. Wind and freshwater flow can modify the tidal pattern. Use the NOAA Nautical Chart layer for charted depths, hazards and navigation reference.

Where Should I Fish Right Now?
Scans the Louisiana areas in Way More Fish, then refines the strongest areas spot-by-spot. It blends current fishing conditions, water clarity, wind, tide movement, recent disruption and data confidence. The top spots are pinned on the map.
Tap the button for a coast-wide current-conditions scan.
Best Fishing Spot Near Me
Uses your device location, then compares nearby Way More Fish spots by current conditions and straight-line distance. Your location is requested only when you tap the button.
Tap the button and allow location access when asked.

Uses hourly NWS wind/forecast plus NOAA tide movement, time of day and pressure trend. It is a conditions-based estimate, not a guarantee of fish activity.

Did you see a recent storm / churned water?
Choose a spot to load nearby observed conditions.
Recent gusts, rain and fast wind shifts can reduce confidence even after the weather calms down.
Recovery Outlook
Recovery pace—
Estimated cleanup window—
Next tide effect—
Choose a spot to estimate how quickly disturbed water may improve after recent weather.
Heuristic estimate only. When recent station observations are missing, the app labels recovery as modeled or forecast/tide-only and widens the cleanup window instead of treating missing observations as live evidence. Actual clarity can still change faster or slower with bottom type, fetch and freshwater runoff.
Tomorrow's Top 3 Fishing Spots
Compares the Louisiana areas in Way More Fish and ranks the three strongest spots for tomorrow morning using forecast wind/weather, tide movement when available, recent-disruption recovery and likely water cleanliness. NWS is primary weather; a backup forecast source is used if NWS is temporarily unavailable. It is a conditions score, not a catch guarantee.
Tap the button to scan the coast for tomorrow morning.
Cleanest Fishable Water
Use Cleanest Water Now for live conditions, or Tomorrow Morning Outlook to compare the next dawn using overnight forecast wind/weather plus predicted tide movement. Satellite imagery is a visual check and is not machine-scored yet.
Choose an area, then run either current or tomorrow-morning comparison.

Recreational flounder harvest is closed Oct 15–Nov 30 each year.

Fishing Opportunity Calendar
Look up the next 28 days using NOAA tide predictions, sunrise/sunset, estimated sun/moon timing and — inside the NWS 7-day range — actual forecast wind/weather. Farther-out scores are planning tools, not catch probabilities.
Choose an area, then build the calendar.
Confidence levels: 0–6 days = Fishing forecast • 7–13 days = Developing opportunity • 14–28 days = Planning opportunity. NOAA tide predictions are deterministic; weather confidence falls sharply beyond the NWS 7-day forecast.
Trip journal
Journal: no saved trips yet.
Each saved trip stores a snapshot of spot, score, wind, tide, pressure trend, salinity, water temperature, best window and lure recommendation.
CCA Louisiana & Artificial Reefs
The map includes a dedicated CCA Artificial Reefs overlay with 24 reef coordinates verified from published LDWF/CCA sources. Tap a reef marker for its name, GPS, source, Copy GPS, and Open in Maps.
Important: this layer only includes reefs for which a public coordinate could be verified. CCA has additional newer reefs whose coordinates were still described by CCA as pending survey/publication in the sources checked; those are not guessed or plotted.
